We were assigned the task of writing a fictional response to an item used in the  materializing of American culture.  No other “item” is more affected by our culture’s materialization than our people.

The following was my response, using the story of my boss this past summer as a way to create a confused narrative mirroring the conflicts surrounding modern day immigration rights and policies in the United States as reflected through a common medium of newspapers.

In the end, everything worked out for her thankfully, but thousands of other are being squashed daily by our countries inability to create a fair policy that welcomes all people to have the opportunities we are afforded as citizens.
